Judging Others

Today, I got my report card and Mr. Locke look at it (like always.) He discovered that I made a 70 on Dr. Johnson's English Ap class that's right a horrible and degrading "C." Then he started lecturing me about how I need to get better grades and stop watching so much TV. Then he went on telling me that there was no excused for me to make a grade below my expectations, but I said "I am not the only one several people are on the same boat along with myself." After that the stage was set for a classic comment that will live on through out ages to come, "you shouldn't compare yourself to everyone else." In my defense comparing one person to another is what everybody in the world does, we get compared to our classmates in class rankings, in college we get compared by our grades and judge by a miserable number, by the way numbers only tell part of the story they don’t say anything of the type of person we are. True they may say we are lazy, but has it occur to anyone that someone may not understand or be good at the type of work they ask us to do. Maybe if someone saw beyond the numbers people who work hard, but are not as gifted as Stephen Hawking, would have a better chance to make a difference in these world, and this doesn't happened only in academics, but in every aspects of our lives as well we are constantly being compared to the rest of the world. I know is a pretty lousy argument, but is valid. Afterwards I felt really sad and guilty of my actions. The worst was not yet over. Just as I was getting inside the car I hear "why did you get a 70 on your report card school is the only thing you have to do and you have a lot of time on your hands to do it you should be able to do better than these. Then came the mother of all mother quotes “I scarifies myself for you and your brothers and this is how you repay me.” Then I felt like turning back time and trying my best to get an “A” but unfortunately it was too late! At that time I realized that our parents and our teachers work hard for us to see us do well in school and ultimately in life because they might just have love and care for us, and all they want as their reward is to see us succeed!

Well before I go I will leave you with one final though Mr. Locke, mom, and anybody else that cares about me maybe just maybe with your love and support I will go above and beyond my expectations and make myself , you, and everyone else proud. Now I realized that the journey is more important than the destination and the next time anyone wants to judge someone else keep in mind that we are all human beings and remember that humans are not perfect, so before we judge someone else, we have to keep in mind our own mistakes!
