We have come to the end of the road

The past week has been very tiring. After months and months of studing the day of Acadec regional competition finally came around, I remember the excitement visible on the faces of my teammates in the day of the competion. We all had high hopes of finally making it to the next level, State, we had given our speeches a thousand times anticipation was in the air as we all gave it our best. So we went, went into a place totally different from what we were used to, it was definately not Oak Cliff I'll tell you that. Everything and I mean everything was made of brick, everything was fancy it was like an entirely different atmosphere, the people were different, the language obviously, the few hispanics that were there were working in Mcdonald or cleaning the school.
Ok, but it was still a good experience so the first day, we went to Chillis the Mexican way walking, well I had Larry with me so they were walking Daniel was pushing me around. We had to go walking because Doc and Mr. Weatherford went to pick up the van Mr. Weatherford rented for wrestling competition the next day. As we were walking I was looking around and I notice how clean their street were and like I said before, everything was made of brick. I went in and I lean on a table, but it couldn't hold my weight so it tilt and the salt and pepper shakers fell on the floor; the salt shaker broke, but the pepper one was ok. Hey I had to break something just so they would know we were from Oak Cliff. The time finally came for us to go give our interview and speeches, we all were confident and had high hopes, we all knew that this was our best chance to medal. Miracles happen right? We did fairly well, but we were not sure if it was good enough so that any of use would have a chance to medal. The day was over we were all tired, but we knew we had to do it again the next day this time was taking seven test in arrow one after the other with a few breaks in between. We were not as prepared as we needed to be for the testing in the written subjects, none of us got higher than a 700. So we had to do super quiz relay we did ok in that, but other shool were in the 30's while we were in around the teens. We had our last meal together as a team. It was ok, we all sat around talking to each other trying to keep our minds of the test we had taken.
The award ceremony was next and well to say the least we just sat there and watch how everyone else got a medal except for any of us. I score a 960 in interview out of a possible 1000, and I still didn't get a medal. No miracles that day. It was definately I sad moment I saw everything that I had gone through my past years. All the people I had met all the friends I made we were all there looking at each other knowing that that was the last moment we were going to be together as a team. We stop for some ice cream and then we came home disappointed and sad. Life is definately tough all the senior don't have another shot, but I hope Isaac, Noemi, and my favorite white boy Jonathan make it where we did not. It something unprdictable, but in the end is right. I had the time of my life all my years in acadec now is on to UIL. Although I did learned that we had to make the best with the thing known as life and I had learned that the question why life is tough? Is not a question, but a lesson learned in time. When the sunset we walked away with our heads held high. For what it is worth it was worth all the while and the memories will forever live on. I hope!

So where was the Regional competition held this yr? Sounds like you had a very inspirational and thoughtful day. Good luck in school. Think about all the new memories still yet to come.

Yeah, regionlas senior year was very sad... just knowing that no matter what you can never be in another regionla acdec competition as a student any more...so that is when you get to be on the other side; coaching.

Well, Victor now that you have concluded that chapter of your life you get to prepare for new chapters. Eventhough you cant go back to acdec you will never forget the fun times and great things you have learned. Sometimes I wish I could go back to sophomore year when I first set foot in Doc's room, when every one seemed taller and smarter... but well, I had fun while it lasted. There is nothing left to do but to keep moving.

Sorry you did not make it to state like you wanted. Congratulations on the 960 in inervew that is better then I could have ever done.
